About Baylor Blickenstaff, M.D.

Dr. Baylor Blickenstaff is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. His practice includes arthroscopic treatment of hip, shoulder, knee, and elbow injuries as well as robotic knee and direct anterior robotic hip replacement. He currently serves as a team physician for Western Kentucky University athletics, as well as area high schools.

Dr. Blickenstaff received his undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Harding University. He then completed his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine, where he was awarded multiple merit scholarships for academic achievement. He completed orthopaedic surgery residency at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, where he was recognized as the Outstanding Junior Resident of the Year and the Resident Educator of the Year. Following residency, he completed a one-year fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama, where he received specialized training in sports medicine including hip arthroscopy and treatment of throwing injuries of the shoulder and elbow.

During his training he has served as team physician for Auburn University, Marshall University, Kentucky Christian University, Birmingham Barons (AA) baseball, the SEC baseball and gymnastics tournaments, and Alabama Ballet. Dr. Blickenstaff recognizes that shared decision-making is of the utmost importance. He helps his patients understand their condition and all options available to them, whether operative or non-operative, so they are confident in their treatment plan.
