Good Samaritan Award

Lindsey Johnson, OT

Congratulations to Lindsey Johnson, an Occupational Therapist at the Medical Center at Scottsville, for being honored with the Med Center Health Good Samaritan Award. Please see the nomination below to see why the Employee Recognition Committee selected Lindsey as an award recipient.

“Lindsey is certified in lymphedema management and has a passion for treating individuals whose lives are affected by this condition. Management of this condition is complex and includes consistent treatment by the therapist, including manual techniques and compression wrapping of the affected area. I am nominating Lindsey for this award because she went above and beyond in her service to one of her patients in treatment of his left lower extremity. Her patient was scheduled to have left hip surgery at a non-Med Center Health location which would negatively affect the patient’s lymphedema, reversing the time and effort they spent controlling the lymphedema in the weeks prior to surgery. She knew that if his limb was not appropriately and immediately treated post-operatively with compression wrappings, the patient’s lymphedema would return and would also negatively impact his recovery from surgery. Lindsey collaborated with the surgeon and the patient and was able to provide the lymphedema management that the patient needed shortly after surgery. This service was performed on her own time in the evening and rooted in the genuine concern she has for her patients. She has been able to routinely follow-up with the patient’s care as he transferred to Med Center Scottsville’s swing bed for further rehab. This act took a great deal of time and effort to coordinate to ensure the patient had a successful outcome. – Carrie Reed

The Medical Center at Scottsville Earns ACR Accreditation

The Medical Center at Scottsville has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in computed tomography (CT) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). CT scanning — sometimes called CAT scanning — is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and tailor treatments for various medical conditions.

ACR accreditation is recognized as the gold standard in medical imaging – representing the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report that can be used for continuous practice improvement.See More

The Medical Center at Scottsville acquires 64-slice GE Revolution EVO CT Scanner

To better serve patients in Allen County and surrounding communities, The Medical Center at Scottsville has upgraded its diagnostic imaging services with a 64-slice GE Revolution EVO CT Scanner. One major enhancement of this new scanner includes the lower doses of radiation which contribute to an extra margin of safety for patients. A Long Tradition of Quality Patient Care

The Medical Center at Scottsville’s roots date back to 1952 when the Allen County War Memorial Hospital served the residents of Scottsville, Kentucky and surrounding communities. In 1993, the hospital was assigned to The Medical Center at Bowling Green, and was renamed The Medical Center at Scottsville.

Three years later, the hospital completed a major expansion, opening a new 80,000 square-foot complex with 52 acute-care beds and 105 skilled-care beds. The addition of these facilities ensured that residents of Scottsville and Allen County had access to the latest in high quality service without the need to travel to other cities.

In  1998, the Scottsville Medical Plaza, located on the campus of The Medical Center at Scottsville, opened its doors.  Today, it houses Primary Care Scottsville and other specialty clinics.

Today, residents of Allen county still rely on The Medical Center at Scottsville for the healthcare services they need to stay close to home including diagnostic imaging services, physician specialty clinics, and comprehensive rehabilitation services.
