Helping You Manage Both Chronic and Acute Pain
What is the difference between chronic and acute pain? Chronic pain normally lasts for three months or longer and may vary in intensity. The causes of chronic pain vary and can include arthritis, or nerve injury, damage or compression. Acute pain is usually intense and associated with an injury. As the injured tissue or muscles heal over time, the pain normally subsides.
Proper diagnosis is important to managing pain. Having an open and honest conversation with your primary care physician is the first step to properly diagnosing what type of pain you are suffering and its possible causes. Your doctor will then work with you and other members of your healthcare team to develop a treatment plan that is right for you.
If your doctor recommends the services of a specialist, Med Center Health is here for you. With a far-reaching system that includes more than 50 specialties, we are dedicated to your care.
