Med Center Health Hematology & Oncology specializes in treating patients with cancer or disorders of the blood, bone marrow and lymphatic systems. The practice is led by fellowship-trained hematologist/oncologists who treat each patient with skill and compassion.
A diagnosis of cancer can be overwhelming. Med Center Health Hematology & Oncology is dedicated to compassionate, personalized care. We will be with you every step of your journey, caring for you as a whole person. You are unique—and so is your care.
Med Center Health Hematology & Oncology offers a variety of treatments, including:
- Chemotherapy—kills cancer cells or keeps them from spreading
- Hormone therapy—blocks certain hormones used by some cancers to grow
- Immunotherapy—helps your own immune system fight cancer
- Targeted therapy—treatment that targets the ways cancer cells grow, divide and spread
Your specific treatment will depend upon your general health, your disease, and your goals. Your treatment plan may include more than one therapy. As your partner in treatment, we will discuss each appropriate option with you, including benefits and risks. Telemedicine visits are available by appointment.
Med Center Health Hematology & Oncology welcomes Catherine Heltsley, MD
Med Center Health is proud to welcome Catherine Heltsley, MD, to Med Center Health Hematology & Oncology. Dr. Heltsley joins Rishi Agarwal, MD, and Diego Cabrera, MD, and Jamie Jarboe, MD, in providing advanced cancer and blood-related disease care to patients in Southcentral Kentucky.
The importance of developing a treatment plan through honest conversations with her patients and understanding their wishes and expectations are top priorities for Dr. Heltsley. To her, each patient is a unique human being and not just their disease. “I treat patients like family,” she said, “with the same compassion and love.” She works closely with every physician on a patient’s care team with the ultimate goal of achieving the best outcome possible.
Dr. Heltsley received her medical degree from Medical College of Wisconsin. She completed her residency in internal medicine and a clinical and research fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Tennessee, Memphis. She has almost 25 years of experience caring for cancer patients. Dr. Heltsley, Dr. Agarwal, Dr. Cabrera and Dr. Jarboe are all board certified in hematology/oncology.
