Surgical Oncology

Surgical oncologists work hand-in-hand with other cancer specialists to offer the best treatment options available and help patients make informed decisions. Surgical oncologists perform biopsies and also remove tumors and cancerous tissue. They treat a variety of cancers when surgery is needed, including breast, gastrointestinal, liver, pancreas, esophageal, gastric, endocrine and melanoma.

Surgical cancer care is offered through Med Center Health Surgical Oncology. The practice is led by board-certified and fellowship-trained surgical oncologist Prejesh Philips, M.D., who is affiliated with UofL Physicians. Dr. Philips sees patients in Bowling Green for consultation, pre-op and post-op appointments, with surgeries performed in Louisville.
