The Medical Center at Scottsville acquires 64-slice GE Revolution EVO CT Scanner

To better serve patients in Allen County and surrounding communities, The Medical Center at Scottsville has upgraded its diagnostic imaging services with a 64-slice GE Revolution EVO CT Scanner. One major enhancement of this new scanner includes the lower doses of radiation which contribute to an extra margin of safety for patients. Faster scan times create better patient experiences and higher image quality of patients unable to hold their breath or remain still for long periods of time. This results in more accurate diagnoses.

“This investment in the latest CT technology is just another example of The Medical Center at Scottsville’s commitment to provide the communities we serve with quality diagnostic imaging services close to home,” said Eric Hagan, Vice President and Administrator at The Medical Center at Scottsville. “This technology allows us to help physicians make quicker and better diagnoses for their patients.”

The 64-slice scanner has the latest software that allows the diagnostic imaging staff to perform vascular studies to evaluate blood flow. In particular, CT is an essential tool to detect a stroke. Stroke occurs when a blood vessel carrying oxygen to the brain is blocked by a clot or the blood vessel bursts and leaks into the brain.

“As we prepare our application for the Acute Stroke Ready Hospital Certification by The Joint Commission, this 64-slice scanner enables us to demonstrate our ability to quickly and accurately diagnosis a stroke and initiate evidence-based, lifesaving care,” said Jennifer King, Radiology Manager for The Medical Center at Scottsville.

In addition to CT, the hospital also offers digital mammography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), radiology, ultrasound and echocardiography. To learn more, call The Medical Center at Scottsville at 270-622-2872 or visit MedCenterHealth.org/Scottsville.
