Early Intervention with Infectious Disease Specialists Increases Odds Significantly
Super viruses. Drug-resistant strains. Ebola. Yellow Fever. These are some of the phrases about infectious diseases that you see in the media almost every day. At Med Center Health’s Infectious Disease and Travel Medicine Specialists, we focus on these concerns, and stay up-to-date with the latest treatments and preventive medicine.
Established in 1989 as the first practice of its kind in Southcentral Kentucky, we’ve led the way in epidemeology, or the study and control of diseases. Our practice also provides travel services and engages in clinical research aimed at controlling viruses and improving the health of patients.
In addition to treating patients in the office and hospital settings, our physicians make Infectious Disease services available across the region using telemedicine to consult with physicians and follow up with patients.
The majority of patients we treat have complex or uncertain diagnoses and do not respond to ordinary treatment. We’re committed to providing affordable, outpatient treatments whenever possible. Our goal is to improve the overall health and function of patients, in the hope that he or she can return to normal activities and a good quality of life as soon as possible.
One important aspect of infectious disease control and treatment is early intervention. In the first few days of symptoms or first few days of hospitalization, a patient’s odds of successful treatment increase dramatically. Delayed treatment can be deadly. If you are battling disease or a chronic illness without much treatment success, contact us at (270) 780-2760 or ask your healthcare provider for a referral today.
