About Erinn Basista, DNP, APRN, NP-C
Erinn Basista, APRN is board certified in family medicine by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and has practiced in the Russellville area since 2021.
Erinn’s decision to get into the health care field started early. “I have always been interested in health and medicine, even from a young age,’” she says. “However, losing my dad when I was 18 to a massive heart attack was pivotal for me.”
When caring for people, Erinn tries to build a relationship that makes each patient feel heard. “I ask a lot of questions,” she said, “I also try to really listen to them and their concerns.” She encourages patients to get involved in their health care. “My favorite advice to give patients is to ask me questions and to not delay finding a primary care provider.”
Erinn chose to focus on family medicine because of the holistic approach she had experienced with her nursing career. “Family Practice was a natural choice,” she says. She has a critical care background and with that experience she enjoys treating patients with chronic health conditions. “Patients with diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, COPD, and asthma are some of my areas of interest,” she says.
When coming in to visit Erinn you can expect to spend time talking face to face. “I am comfortable managing many complex medical conditions and try to incorporate medicines and non-pharmacological methods to formulate a comprehensive medical treatment plan that is right for you,” she says, “The treatment plan is not going to work if it includes tasks or items that the patient does not want to do.”
Erinn received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY in 2017. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Western Kentucky University in 2020.
When she is away from the office, Erinn enjoys spending time with her family. She also enjoys reading, cooking, and listening to music.
