Med Center Health Announces Partnership with Epic—the Nation’s Leading Electronic Health Record
Med Center Health has announced yet another significant advancement as the area’s most comprehensive health system and one of the state’s academic teaching hospitals – Med Center Health is partnering with Epic, the nation’s leading electronic health record (EHR) system. This marks a new era of connected, patient-centered care and will improve quality of life in the communities we serve across Southcentral Kentucky.
The Board of Directors has approved the partnership with Epic—marking a significant investment in innovation and collaboration to strengthen how care is coordinated and delivered. More than a technology upgrade, this transformation marks a cultural shift for Med Center Health as it approaches its 100-year anniversary in 2026—solidifying the health system as the region’s leader in healthcare innovation. Implementation is already underway, with an estimated completion by the end of 2026.
“This was a monumental decision for us,” said Smith. “Joining Southcentral Kentucky’s largest health system with the nation’s leading electronic health record company is a game-changer for the patients we serve.” Smith continued, “Judy Faulkner, Founder and CEO of Epic, has been quoted to say, ‘Just have the guts to do what you know is the right thing to do.’ Med Center Health is confident this is the right thing to do.”
With Epic, Med Center Health patients will experience:
- Easier Access to Your Health Information: View test results, medications, and visit summaries anytime through the MyChart patient portal.
- Better Communication with Your Care Team: All your providers will have the same up-to-date information, helping them work together more smoothly.
- A More Seamless Experience for You: Whether you’re visiting your family doctor, a specialist, or the hospital, your health record will follow you.
- More Time Focused on You: By reducing paperwork and streamlining processes, providers can spend more time listening and caring for patients.
“Med Center Health’s partnership with Epic will improve the patient and physician experience across all Med Center Health facilities—plain and simple,” said Connie Smith, President and CEO of Med Center Health. “From ease of scheduling to efficiently sharing information across a patient’s healthcare team, Epic will allow us to provide more seamless, personalized care.”
