Volunteer Opportunities
Note: Each of these opportunities are available from 8:00-12:00 & 12:00-4:00 Monday through Friday. Most of our volunteers will offer a half day per week or more if their time allows.

Ambulatory Surgery Registration
The volunteer is responsible in assisting the Registration Clerk with answering phone calls and other desk activities. They will escort families to visit with surgery patients prior to and following surgery. They will escort families to conference room to meet with surgeons. They will escort patients to other areas of hospital as needed.
Chaplaincy
The Volunteer Chaplain will assist the Hospital Chaplain when needed. They will provide comfort and prayer to patients, particularly in the Emergency Department, upon the request of the patient or patient support person. They will provide comfort and prayer to staff members when requested.
Community Wellness
The volunteer may assist the Community Wellness team with events such as: The Women’s Conference and the Health and Wellness Expo. Duties may include preparing mailings for the events, phone call follow ups, and set up/breakdown for the events.
Emergency Department Patient Liaison
The primary task for this volunteer will be to round on ED patients who are in the lobby and in the back waiting to be seen by the provider. The purpose will be to provide contact by an additional hospital representative. They will offer warm blankets. They will assist staff in activities such as stocking supplies and the blanket warmer. They will do errands for staff as necessary.
Human Resources
On a monthly basis, the volunteer will assist HR staff with labeling the next month’s birthday cards for staff throughout the corporation.
Nursery
The volunteer will assist the staff by holding/rocking babies, changing diapers, and feeding them. They will help organize and stock supplies. All Volunteer Opportunities in Nursery are currently occupied!
Wayfinding
The volunteer assists at the Main Entrance Front Desk at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. Volunteer will help patients, visitors, and guests navigate throughout the hospital.
Nurse educator assistant
Volunteers will assist the nurse educators with educational materials. May incorporate wayfinding and wheelchair gathering.
oncology ally
The oncology ally volunteers round on patients receiving treatment and put together educational packets and welcome bags for patients and wayfinding. They also check on any patients who may be current inpatients within the hospital and build positive and healthy relationships with patients and staff.
Comfort Rounder / unit supporter
The Comfort Rounder Volunteers will round on inpatients, attending to needs such as companionship, a blanket, a drink, or something from our comfort cart. They will also check the patient room for cleanliness and serve as a liaison to the staff to address questions or concerns. The Unit Supporter are assigned to a specific unit and assist the staff with rounding, answering calls, and stocking.
care crafter
The Care Crafter could volunteer on location, at home or with a group. We are looking for knitters, crocheters, sewers, or anyone with general crafting skills to create items for our inpatients, veterans, and outpatients receiving treatment!
Additional Occasional or Once-a-Year Activities:
- Decorate and then ‘Un-decorate’ the Hospital for the Christmas Season.
- Help prepare and decorate Auditorium for the Volunteer Christmas and Appreciation Luncheons.
- Assist at the Expectant Parent Fair.
- Register staff/others during Blood Drives.
- Cover front desk at Employee Health for their monthly staff meetings.
