Balloon Sinuplasty
Patients suffering from chronic sinusitis want a treatment option that provides lasting relief without surgery or the side effects and cost of traditional surgical treatments. Med Center Health ENT offers in-office balloon sinus dilation as a minimally-invasive option with a fast recovery, and is increasingly becoming the preferred choice of patients.
Non-Invasive Balloon Procedures Replace Complicated Surgery for Sinus Relief
Balloon Sinuplasty is a new outpatient or in-office treatment for chronic sinusitis that gives relief to patients without the trauma of surgery. Similar to angioplasty used to open blocked arteries near the heart, sinuplasty uses a balloon to open blocked sinus cavities, helping to flush mucus from infected areas.
Performed by ENT Bowling Green physicians at Med Center Health, the procedure replaces endoscopic surgery, which requires the removal of tissue and bone from the nasal area. Because sinus dilation or sinuplasty involves no surgery, it can speed recovery for patients who qualify.
Patients suitable for the procedure are examined by a Med Center Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist, and a CT-scan is conducted to evaluate sinus cavities. This evaluation exam will help the doctor determine if the patient is a good candidate for the procedure.
Because balloon procedures are so new, long term studies have not yet been conducted. But most patients report good results up to two years after the procedure. Talk to your healthcare provider or call us at (270) 782-7768 for more information.
