About Kelly Tate, M.D., FAAFP
Kelly Tate, M.D., is board certified in Family Medicine and has practiced in the Elkton area since 2021. Dr. Tate’s decision to get into the health care field was prompted during his high school years. “Thanks to a very influential high school biology teacher, I decided to pursue medicine after graduation,“ he says.
When caring for people, Dr. Tate values being a good listener before offering his thoughts and recommendations. “Mainly I just listen to them,” he says. “I want them to know that they have been heard.”
Dr. Tate chose to focus on family medicine because he enjoys the broadness of the practice and likes to get to know the patient, as well as the family. Regarding improvement in one’s health, he advises people to practice everything in moderation. “We can all practice moderation in most things, sometimes there is an exception,” he says. Dr. Tate also believes the health journey with his patients takes teamwork, “I am always focused on the patient and how we can work together to make or keep them healthy.”
Dr. Tate received a Bachelor of Science degree from Murray State University in 1983. He earned a medical degree from the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine in 1987. He completed a family medicine residency at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital in 1990.
When he is away from the office, Dr. Tate enjoys spending time outside at his koi pond or in his flower garden.
Dr. Tate welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.
