Mohammed Kazimuddin, MD named Assistant Dean of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine-Bowling Green Campus

Med Center Health congratulates Mohammed Kazimuddin, MD, on being named Assistant Dean of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine-Bowling Green Campus. Dr. Kazimuddin succeeds Don Brown, DO, and will support Associate Dean Todd Cheever, MD, in leading the newly established regional campus which opened the summer of 2018.

Connie Smith, President and CEO of Med Center Health, stated, “Dr. Kazimuddin is an outstanding choice for this position.  His commitment to educating the physicians of tomorrow is to be commended.  He will serve the Bowling Green campus well.”  Smith added, “We appreciate Dr. Brown’s tireless efforts and relentless energy in contributing to the planning and development of the medical school.”

“Dr. Kazimuddin is committed to improving the health of Western Kentucky,” said Robert S. DiPaola, MD, Dean of the UK College of Medicine, “We are honored to have him as our Assistant Dean at the Bowling Green Campus.”  DiPaola continued, “We are deeply grateful to Dr. Brown for his partnership and look forward to continued work toward our mission to educate physicians in Kentucky for Kentucky.”

Dr. Kazimuddin serves on The Medical Center’s Board of Directors and has played an active role in the UK College of Medicine campus expansion project as a member of the Graduate Medical Education Subcommittee, the UK College of Medicine-Bowling Green Campus Joint Executive Oversight Committee, the Interview Selection Advisory Committee, and finally as an Associate Professor. 

“As the President and Chief Executive Officer of Western Kentucky Heart and Lung,” says Dr. Kazimuddin, “I believe it is critically important to guide medical students and new physicians to the best training available, fusing together the missions of the College of Medicine and Graduate Medical Education. I look forward to further developing advancements in health care and the medical education presence in Bowling Green.”

Dr. Kazimuddin is a graduate of Gandhi Medical College and completed his residency training in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Medicine with the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He then completed a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center at the University of Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. Board certified in Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Interventional Cardiology, he established Western Kentucky Heart and Lung in 2002 and the Western Kentucky Heart and Lung Research Foundation and Educational Trust.For more information about the UK College of Medicine-Bowling Green Campus, visit meded.med.uky.edu/bowling-green.
