Med Center Health’s Western Kentucky Diagnostic Imaging Adding Region’s Only High-Field Open MRI Imaging System

Med Center Health’s Western Kentucky Diagnostic Imaging, a department of The Medical Center, has added Hitachi’s Oasis High-Field Open Magnetic Resonance (MR) imaging system to its list of diagnostic offerings. Oasis has an accommodating, open design that reassures patients, as well as a broad range of clinical capabilities and features. Hitachi has been a long-time pioneer of diagnostic imaging systems, with more than 1,500 installed in the United States.

“This will be the area’s first and only High Field Open MRI,” said Eddie Scott, Director of Radiological Services for Med Center Health. “This technology will allow for the image quality of traditional bore magnets while providing maximum comfort and open feeling during the patient’s scans.”

Hitachi has put a great deal of emphasis on making patients comfortable during their MR exam. The inside of the Oasis provides a 270° unobstructed view, which minimizes anxiety and claustrophobia and maximizes a more pleasant environment for the patient during the MR exam.

Oasis combines unparalleled patient comfort with powerful technology and an ultrafast workstation to make patient exams as quick and smooth as possible. Its imaging power is further boosted by an array of anatomically-specific, optimized receiver coils that allow advanced imaging applications ranging from vascular to orthopaedic to women’s health.

Med Center Health has acquired the new Oasis MR system to offer physicians and patients in Southcentral Kentucky access to the most advanced diagnostic imaging techniques currently available in the healthcare industry. With installation underway, the system will be available in late December.

Western Kentucky Diagnostic Imaging is located at 1635 Scottsville Rd, Bowling Green, KY 42104. For more information on the Hitachi OASIS system’s capabilities, call 270-746-9500 or visit http://www.hitachihealthcare.com/products/mri/oasis/.
