Western Kentucky Heart and Lung was established in 2002 by Drs. Mohammed and Nisar Kazimuddin, with a mission to provide quality care to every patient in a timely and compassionate manner. We take pride in our Bowling Green, Russellville, Scottsville, Glasgow and Albany facilities. We are committed to providing state-of-the-art medical care in the fields of cardiovascular and pulmonary medicine to those in Southcentral Kentucky.

PLEASE NOTE: Patients seen August 1, 2024 and after may access their medical record information through Med Center Health’s MyRecord patient portal. Patients seen July 31, 2024 and before may access their information via the WKHL patient portal.

Pulmonology

Office visits are scheduled by appointment only. If you have an emergency please call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Room. To avoid scheduling conflicts, please call as far in advance to make an appointment.

New patients should arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment time for registration purposes. Patients should bring their insurance cards and state issued photo ID to each appointment. Also, if you are going to be unable to keep your appointment, please call as soon as possible to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

INSURANCE

Western Kentucky Heart and Lung Associates accepts most insurance plans. Some insurers may require a referral to be seen by a specialist. The patient is responsible for determining if a referral is required.

If you have a question concerning a statement you have received, please feel free to contact our Billing Department by calling (270) 782-0151 then selecting option 3.

If you call to speak with medical personnel, physicians or a medical assistant, call (270) 782-0151 then select option 1; however, please understand they may be unable to answer your call at the time it is received. Please leave a message with your name, telephone number and a brief message, your call will be returned by the end of the business day.

PRESCRIPTIONS

For prescription refills, please contact your pharmacist during regular office hours. The pharmacist will contact our office for authorization of your refill. Requests should be made prior to needing the medicine. This will give our office and the pharmacy time to work together to refill the prescription and ensure you do not run out of your medication(s).

Accredited Fellowship Programs

Western Kentucky Heart & Lung in conjunction with the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and Med Center Health is committed to educating future cardiologists and pulmonologists through the accredited ACGME fellowship programs and are designed to produce skilled physicians focused on delivering patient-centered, evidence-based, cost-effective care. WKHL is proud to be a part of the fellowship program that offers fellows the opportunity to learn in a leading regional teaching facility at Med Center Health with state-of-the-art technology and a diverse patient mix under supervision provided by our outstanding board-certified teaching faculty.

Cardiology Fellowship

The fellowship training program in cardiology is thirty-six (36) months in duration and is designed to provide excellence in cardiovascular disease training. A minimum of twenty-four (24) months will include supervised management of patients (clinical rotations). This program will train two (2) cardiology fellows enrolled in the program during each training year for a total of six (6) fellows. This program is structured to meet and exceed the requirements of the basic standards for training in cardiology.

Interventional Cardiology Fellowship

This one year Interventional Cardiology fellowship training program complies with all Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements, in addition to following the guidelines and recommendations set forth by the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Core Cardiology Training Statement (COCATS-4). Our fellows receive clinical training in coronary interventional procedures, peripheral interventions, structural heart procedures and experience in a longitudinal ambulatory clinic.

Pulmonary Medicine Fellowship

The University of Kentucky College of Medicine (Bowling Green) Pulmonary Disease fellowship training program located at The Medical Center at Bowling Green is twenty-four (24) months in duration and provides advanced education allowing fellows to acquire competency in the subspecialty with sufficient expertise to act as an independent consultant. The Pulmonary Disease Fellowship Training Program is designed to provide advanced training to fellows to allow them to obtain competency in the specialty of Pulmonology with sufficient expertise to act as specialist consultants. This training is provided by both didactic instruction and direct patient care under the direct supervision of expert pulmonary faculty. Didactic instruction is provided in all areas of pulmonology as outlined in the specific topic areas required by the ACGME.
