The Medical Center-WKU Health Sciences Complex

The Medical Center-WKU Health Sciences Complex officially opened August 22, 2013.  “It is rewarding to see a project that will have such a significant impact on healthcare come to fruition,” said Connie Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of Commonwealth Health Corporation, parent company of The Medical Center.

“The Medical Center-WKU Health Sciences Complex will benefit the hospital and university with much needed educational space. The community will also reap the benefits as this facility will help advance healthcare in Southcentral Kentucky by providing highly educated and trained healthcare professionals.”

The Health Sciences Complex provides space for The Medical Center to offer advanced training with sophisticated technology for its clinical staff. These labs offer high-level training that is not a part of most hospitals. The Medical Center simulation lab is full of life-like virtual patients in realistic hospital care settings, allowing for a unique educational experience. An entire medical team, including physicians, nurses, paramedics and respiratory therapists, can train in an interconnected way.

The result is life-saving responses when real-life scenarios occur! This gift to our medical community and the community-at-large is possible because of donations from those who believe in the great value of educational excellence in healthcare. The Education Endowment has been established and provides a chance for donors to make contributions that have power now as well as for future generations.
