Pulmonary Rehabilitation

The Medical Center at Franklin Pulmonary Rehabilitation program can help individuals with breathing problems improve their quality of life. The program combines exercise conditioning, endurance training, education and emotional support to help individuals control and reduce the symptoms and complications from pulmonary disease.

Individuals with the following chronic lung diseases can benefit from pulmonary rehabilitation:

  • Asthma
  • Bronchitis
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • Emphysema
  • Lung Resection
  • Lung Transplant
  • Occupational & Environmental Lung Disease
  • Interstitial Fibrosis


Pulmonary Rehabilitation at The Medical Center at Franklin focuses on education, therapy and exercise sessions in an outpatient setting. Sessions last approximately 60 minutes, are held two to three days a week, and typically last for 24-36 visits. Therapy focuses on:

  • Breathing retraining
  • Reconditioning exercises
  • Stress management
  • Energy conservation
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Smoking cessation (if needed)
  • Medication Therapy
