The nursing staff is comprised of Registered Nurses, Patient Care Assistants, Monitor Technicians, Infection Control and Wound Care Nurses, and RN Case Managers and Social Workers.

The levels of acute care available at Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital allow the nursing staff to focus on the complex special needs of each patient. Areas of focus include but are not limited to: care of ventilator-dependent patients in process of weaning, renal patients requiring dialysis, and cardiac and vascular patients requiring an extended stay in an acute care setting. Our nurses receive comprehensive critical care training and competency testing in areas such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support, IV Medication Administration, Ventilator Management, and Cardiac Arrhythmia Monitoring and Interpretation.

Respiratory Care Services

Respiratory Care performs therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory procedures, delivering the highest combination of quality and service. Respiratory Therapists are involved in a variety of areas including Adult Critical Care, Ventilator Weaning Protocols, and Pulmonary Rehab. Our Respiratory Therapists have access to the latest technology, including advanced mechanical ventilators, pulse oximetry, and diagnostic equipment.

Nutrition Management

Our registered dietitian works closely with the physician and interdisciplinary team to meet the dietary needs of each patient. This includes enteral feedings, total patient nutrition, and patient/family diet education.

Rehabilitation

We provide experienced physical, occupational, and speech therapists. Therapists develop individualized treatment plans and goals to restore and/or enhance the patient’s physical and cognitive abilities to allow them to return to their highest functional level.
