July Employee of the Month – Patrick Pitcock
Congratulations to Patrick Pitcock for being named Employee of the Month for July 2026. Patrick is a House Administrator at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. Patrick was nominated for his exceptional clinical skills, dedication and willingness to support others. Whether assisting during rapid responses, securing difficult IV access or encouraging new nurses, Patrick consistently goes above and beyond with a smile.
“I am, more often than not, the charge nurse on ICU. I cannot stress enough the weight that comes with those duties. Specifically, the frequent responding to Rapid Responses. I know that CCU can attest to that burden on a shift as well. NOTHING takes the weight off my shoulders compared to when Patrick is resource. He will be at every single rapid response, do 100% of the charting, and tell the responding critical care nurse more often than not that he will handle the charting and busywork portion once the patient has been stabilized. I cannot count how many times he has done this for me. I myself have been a resource nurse on night shift and know how busy that shift can be. He literally spoils most of the nurses with his ability to put in IVs. I guarantee he does 15+ every shift that he is our resource nurse. One event in particular, on 7/9, here in the ICU. Patrick was house. I was charge. We had a frequent-flyer DKA patient. She is a wonderful patient with a dreaded disease, along with that she is a NIGHTMARE to start IVs on. Pretty proficient at IVs myself, I was stumped… even with the Ultrasound… Patrick on one of his many rounds of the hospital caught word of how difficult of a stick she was, we consulted with the doctor, got an order, consent, and Patrick started a midline for us in the middle of the night. I am a travel nurse. I have worked at four hospitals. Nowhere have I ever seen a team member so dedicated to easing the load for his fellow nurses. He goes above and beyond for each of us. “During my night shift on 7/8/2026, I had a patient who needed IV access that was extremely difficult. I called Patrick about this issue, and he immediately came to the bedside to help. Patrick was the house supervisor that night and stayed with me in this room to help for a long time. The patient stated that she previously had a midline, and Patrick took the initiative to place one for me. He gathered the supplies and placed a midline at the bedside within an hour of my first call about this issue. Patrick went above and beyond to help me during this shift and didn’t hesitate to do everything he could to fix the issue, all while serving as the house supervisor. I have always had great experiences with Patrick during my shifts. Especially as a new graduate nurse, it means so much to me that someone like Patrick is always willing to lend a helpful hand, no matter the situation. He is willing to help anyone with anything and does it with a smile on his face at all times. Patrick is a valuable resource to this hospital and irreplaceable in how he treats others, going above and beyond to make everyone’s shifts better.
