The Medical Center at Bowling Green Nurse of the Year and Clinical Support Employee of the Year

Nurse of the Year: Cecelia Nugent, RN
Cecelia is a true selfless human. She is a stellar patient advocate and a role model of a professional nurse. Cecelia was on the front lines in the initiation of our COVID unit, working on the unit long and hard, putting her heart into the community. She also has volunteered to work extra hours in specialty infusion to provide treatment to those in our community sick from COVID-19. She worked hard to complete her clinical ladder and is a charge nurse on her unit where her co-workers truly appreciate her. She is dedicated to her specialty as she is on the content board with Society of Vascular Nurses and attends the vascular surgery annual meeting every year for the past 5 years. She is an active member of the unit’s UPC, serving as president for the past 4 years and has grown this UPC to be well-known with our physicians. There are not enough words for this outstanding nurse. No one deserves Nurse of the Year more.

Clinical Support Employee of the Year: Theresa Hicks, CNA
Theresa has been with The Medical Center at Bowling Green Post-Partum Unit for six years. She is Clinical Ladder IV and has been UPC Secretary, a preceptor and participates in extracurricular unit activities. She was nominated by a patient, who said Theresa went above and beyond to ensure that the patient and her husband were comfortable during their stay at The Medical Center. The patient stated that they never had to ask for anything because Theresa was proactive and made sure they had all necessities prior to them being needed. Theresa provides holistic care every time and stays positive with a smile on her face.
