Nurse of the Year: Laurie Turpin, RN

Laurie Turpin, RN, is a shining example of what a nurse should be. Any time she comes in to work, it is with a smile on her face and joy in her heart. When her co-workers see her, it instantly brings a smile to their faces. Laurie’s patients also think the world of her. She can bring them joy in the darkest times. When Laurie works, her patients always come first, and she makes sure that they all have what they need. Whether she is caring for a patient on a ventilator or caring with someone with extensive wounds, Laurie always makes her patients feel comfortable and ensures they are getting the very best care possible. In her eight years at CRSH, Laurie has grown into one of the most intelligent and charismatic nurses. She is someone her co-workers can rely on in a crisis. She is also someone who her co-workers come to with questions about their patients. CRSH is certainly very lucky to have Laurie.

Felicia Dawn Ferguson (second from left) is congratulated by (left to right): Seth Smith, Director; Christa Atkins, Administrator; and Katina Wood, Chief Nursing Officer.

Clinical Support Employee of the Year: Felicia Dawn Ferguson, Monitor Technician

Felicia Dawn Ferguson has worked at Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital since the day it opened in 2004. She has since then been a pillar of the work family at CRSH, and has made infinite contributions to her workplace. Through her work with the clinical ladder program, Dawn helps to not only make CRSH a better place to work, but also Med Center Health as a whole. She truly cares about the mission of Med Center Health and volunteers her time in numerous organizations in the community. Dawn also brings a wonderful spirit to CRSH, decorating the hospital for every month. Dawn makes special bonds with our patients and their families even though she is not at the bedside daily. She is able to form these relationships with them because she puts in that extra effort to get to know them, learn their needs, and build a great rapport with them. CRSH is a better place to work because of Dawn.
