In Memoriam – Joseph Smiley

It is with regret that we share the passing of Joseph Smiley on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Joseph worked as a Biomedical Equipment Technician with TRIMEDX at The Medical Center at Bowling Green and our rural hospitals since 2024. Please join us in extending our sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues.

“Joseph was a man who loved God, loved his work, and had a well-known love for milkshakes. It wasn’t uncommon for him to walk down to Lisa’s, just a block away, and order two milkshakes, one to enjoy while waiting on his food, and another for the walk back to the hospital. He held many roles in life: brother, son, and coworker, but to those of us who knew him best, he was a friend and truly part of our family. Joseph had a way of connecting with people that made you feel valued and included. He was always eager to learn. Joseph approached his work with curiosity and enthusiasm, never passing up an opportunity to grow or better understand something new. That mindset made him not only a dependable technician but someone others enjoyed working alongside and learning with.” – Jeff Mattingly
