Good Samaritan – Dorothy Hargis

Congratulations to Dorothy Hargis, a former Medical Dosimetrist at The Medical Center at Bowling Green, on receiving the Good Samaritan Award. Dorothy was nominated for her care and support of a fellow coworker during their time of need. Below is her nomination.

I would like to nominate Dorothy Hargis for the Good Samaritan Award. Dorothy works in the Cancer Center and has made a truly meaningful difference in my life. She sensed it when I was having some struggles in my life and cared enough to talk to me and help me work through them. She was there for me during very difficult times, especially while I was going through several illnesses that resulted in surgeries. She helped me make appointments with doctors and offered advice on making health decisions. Her kindness, encouragement, and support helped me stay strong. Dorothy has always shown genuine compassion and care. She took the time to check on me, listen to me, and offer encouragement when I needed it the most. She made sure that I had meals and received the medicine I needed. She was also there for me during a very special moment in my life when I received my Habitat House, celebrating with me and showing how much she truly cares. She assisted me with the Habitat application process. She helped me clean the home, assemble furniture, and landscape the yard so that it was ready for my family when it was time to move in. Dorothy has a caring heart and a positive spirit that touches the lives of everyone around her. She goes above and beyond to support others and makes people feel valued and supported. Because of her kindness and compassion, she has made a lasting impact on my life, and I truly believe she deserves to be recognized with the Good Samaritan Award.” – Marchell Long
