Coronavirus Workgroup sounds the alarm

Like the majority of Kentucky counties, the positivity rate for COVID-19 cases in Warren and most surrounding counties is considered “critical.” The Bowling Green-Warren County Coronavirus Workgroup held a news conference November 12 to publicly state the serious nature of the pandemic’s threat. They emphasized the importance of mask wearing, washing hands and social distancing.

“Hospitals in this region are under tremendous strain as the number of COVID-19 patients who are admitted is rising at a rapid rate,” says Connie Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of Med Center Health. “Since the outbreak of this pandemic, our Coronavirus Workgroup has been careful not to pull the alarm – but today, we are sounding the alarm. COVID-19 does not discriminate by age. Roughly a third of our COVID patients who have died have been in their 40s, 50s and 60s. I want to be clear. Healthy people are dying from COVID-19.”
