Treatment Team

There are many people dedicated to your care at the Barren River Regional Cancer Center. Leading the team is Craig Tyree, M.D., board certified radiation oncologist. His training in intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), stereotactic radiosurgery, and stereotactic bodyframe radiation therapy allow him to deliver the most effective treatment with the least toxicity.

In addition to your physician, other professionals will be working with you during your therapy. These individuals include:

Radiation Therapists – The radiation therapist is a specially trained professional who operates the treatment machines that administer the radiation dose prescribed by your radiation oncologist.

Oncology Nurses – The radiation oncology nurses work closely with the physician to assess your  physical, psychological, and social needs. The nurse schedules and coordinates services for you with caregivers to promote continuous quality care.

Medical Physicist – The medical physicist provides ongoing quality control on the treatment machines to assure that the equipment is in proper working order. The physicist is also responsible for measurements and dose calculations, as well as weekly patient dose monitoring.

Dosimetrist – The medical dosimetrist works closely with both the medical physicist and radiation therapist. This individual performs dose distributions, calculation, chart checks, and other physics duties.

The Barren River Regional Cancer Center staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and here to help you and your family. Please do not hesitate to ask for assistance.
