Wear White November 17

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Med Center Health employees are encouraged to wear white on Thursday, November 17, in recognition of the Great American Smokeout.

About 34 million American adults still smoke cigarettes, and smoking remains the single largest preventable cause of death and illness in the world. Smoking causes an estimated 480,000 deaths every year, or about 1 in 5 deaths. The American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout falls on the third Thursday in November every year to help people who smoke start their journey toward a smoke-free life.
