Med Center Health Clinical Researchers speak at UK Markey conference
Tina Berger, Hallie Cassady, and Teresa Johnson recently attended the UK Markey Cancer Center Research Network Investigators meeting in Lexington. Tina Berger, Med Center Health’s Clinical Research Coordinator, spoke to approximately 75 attendees from around the state at this annual event on the progress made with the PRIMAL clinical trial study at Med Center Health.
Tina Berger and Hallie Cassidy have enrolled 30 oncology patients in the PRIMAL study, more than any of the UK affiliate peer facilities. Tina spoke on her process and success of enrolling new patients in the PRIMAL study. Med Center Health is among ten UK Markey Cancer Center affiliate sites participating in PRIMAL clinical trials research.
The PRIMAL trial compares newly confirmed stage IIB-IV Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer patients who have been assisted through the UK Markey Cancer Center Molecular Tumor Board to those who have had usual care without presentation to the Molecular Tumor Board. The Molecular Tumor Board is a forum of experts who review genetic abnormalities to provide patient-specific targeted therapies.
