Good Samaritan – Sonya Hood
Congratulations to Sonya Hood, a Clinical Staff Nurse with The Medical Center at Franklin Acute Care, on receiving the Good Samaritan Award. Sonya was nominated for going above and beyond to care for a patient. Below is her nomination.
“We had a patient who was pending discharge. This patient had SDOH concerns. Our social worker and physician had worked together, sent his discharge medications to Riverside Pharmacy, and utilized emergency funds. However, the emergency funds did not cover narcotic pain medications. The patient was unable to afford these medications. The patient has a recent history of cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments. The pain medications would have been necessary for him to be discharged home safely. Sonya called Riverside and paid for his medications out of her own pocket so he could safely be discharged home with all his needs met. She truly went above and beyond to support our mission at Med Center Health, to care for people and improve the quality of life in the communities that we serve. She is well deserving of this nomination.” – Tori Krantz
