Good Samaritan – Sammi Allen

Congratulations to Sammi Allen, a Float Pool Nurse at The Medical Center at Russellville, on receiving the Good Samaritan Award. Sammi was nominated for consistently going above and beyond to care for her patients. Below is her nomination.

Sammi was taking care of a patient in the ED who was about to be admitted to acute care. The patient requested a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner, but the kitchen was already closed for the day and could not fulfill the request. Sammi knew the patient was undergoing cancer treatment and that nutrition was very important. Sammi clocked out from her shift, drove to Arby’s, and asked for them to make her patient a grilled cheese sandwich. Sammi returned with the sandwich, and the patient was overwhelmingly grateful for this kind gesture. Sammi went above and beyond her duty to make her patient’s hospital stay a little more comfortable, and we would like to thank her for that.” – Brooke Burchett

Sammi helped care for my mother-in-law while she was at Med Center Hospital in Russellville. My mother-in-law didn’t have an appetite for the food that was served, and nothing sounded good. After Sammi worked a 12-hour shift, she left work and, instead of going home, went to Arby’s, got my mother-in-law food, and brought it back to her. Wow! All of the nurses during her stay were excellent, but Sammi’s kindness will always be remembered. Thank you.” – Patient’s Daughter.
