The Medical Center at Albany Expands Specialty Clinics with Addition of Ophthalmology

The Medical Center at Albany has expanded local access to specialists from Bowling Green with the addition of an Ophthalmology specialty clinic. Christopher Areephanthu, M.D. with Med Center Health Eye Care is now seeing patients at The Medical Center at Albany.

As an eye surgeon, Dr. Areephanthu specializes in treating cataracts, glaucoma and retinal disorders such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. His primary focus is providing evaluation, medical management and surgical treatment of eye conditions in patients age 18 and older. Eye surgeries will be performed at The Medical Center at Albany.

Dr. Areephanthu can provide eye exams if a patient does not have an established relationship with an optometrist. Since most eye and vision problems have no obvious signs or symptoms, eye exams are an essential part of preventive eye health care. These eye exams include diabetic eye exams which are important for individuals with diabetes due to the increased risk for eye conditions. For more information or to make an appointment, call the main Med Center Health Eye Care office in Bowling Green at 270-796-3533.

Dr. Areephanthu is a native of Bowling Green and a graduate of Western Kentucky University. He earned his medical degree at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Indiana University School of Medicine.

In addition to Ophthalmology, The Medical Center at Albany offers in-person clinics in the following medical specialties: Cardiothoracic Surgery (Randy Carter, M.D.); Interventional Cardiology (Avnish Tripathi, M.D.); and, Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine (Sameer Badarudeen, M.D.).
