Woodward featured in ‘Who We Lost: A Portable Covid Memorial’

In 2020, author of ‘Who We Lost: A Portable Covid Memorial’, Martha Greenwald, invited mourners to write memories of loved ones lost to COVID on the ‘Who We Lost’ website.
Martha reached out to Jacqueline Woodward, administrator at Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care, to see if Jacqueline would be interested in writing about her husband, who passed away from COVID.
“Martha reached out to me when I spoke at the Governor’s unveiling of the COVID-19 Memorial,” said Jacqueline. “Even though my contribution to the book is brief, I had to take some time to decide if it was the right thing for me to do. After communicating with Martha multiple times over the course of several months, I agreed to share my story of Gary Woodward with the world. I wanted to share who he was and how much he gave of himself to others.”
Jacqueline was invited to the book launch on June 2 in Louisville to be a featured reader.
“My hope is for those who read it to realize those who lost their life during the pandemic were special individuals who contributed to their communities in multiple ways,” said Jacqueline. “Hopefully, others will recognize the grief we suffered as the book offered us a space to mourn our loss. Those in healthcare gave countless hours working in situations they never imagined. Giving all they had to care for their patients. This book will allow the legacy of our loved ones to continue; and they will never be forgotten. COVID impacted the majority of the people in the world in some form or fashion. May the book allow others to see we share in their grief.”
