Senior Perspectives offers hope for elders

KenYatta Williams, Program Director

For many people, growing older can be a difficult time – struggles with health, changes in mobility, loss of friends and family, all can lead to increasing feelings of isolation, anxiety and depression. Unfortunately, many people assume this is a normal part of aging; but, it doesn’t have to be.

For seniors in our communities who are struggling with life changes, Senior Perspectives can be a life-saver. Senior Perspectives is an outpatient counseling program for older adults who have Medicare Part B or have a Medicare Advantage Plan. Through a combination of group, individual, and family therapy, nursing education and medication management, participants gain insight into their struggles and learn effective ways of coping. Through this outpatient program, seniors receive an intensive level of treatment without the high cost or inconvenience of hospitalization.

“At Senior Perspectives, we don’t want you to struggle in silence,” says KenYatta Williams, RN, BSN, who is the Program Director. “We want to equip you with ways to live life to its fullest.”

Senior Perspectives is offered through The Medical Centers at Scottsville, Franklin and Caverna. If you know an older adult who is showing signs of depression, anxiety, or needs help with navigating situational change, encourage them or their family to contact Senior Perspectives. A free, confidential assessment can be scheduled. This consultation will be conducted by a qualified mental health professional at their convenience and in the elder’s living environment.
