Med Center Health breaks ground on High Street Tower
Med Center Health broke ground on High Street Tower on Thursday. The groundbreaking ceremony, hosted by Med Center Health and the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, was held at the green space adjacent to The Medical Center’s Emergency Department parking lot (High Street and E. 4th Avenue).
The event saw hundreds of people in attendance and featured speakers from the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, Med Center Health, and the amazing Blankenship family. Following the groundbreaking, free desserts and drinks were made available to everyone in attendance. Thank you to the Fruit Tea Chicks, Tin Roof Coffee, and The Mobile Moo for coming to the event and supplying everyone with some delicious treats.
High Street Tower will provide a new location for Women & Children’s Services at Med Center Health, which includes one of the largest obstetrics units in Kentucky. Two floors will feature expanded space for ante-partum, labor and delivery, cesarean suites, post-partum, and an emergency department dedicated solely to obstetrical patients. The Women & Children’s Services space will also house the region’s only Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
Other floors will allow for future expansion of the emergency department, surgery, endoscopy, and additional medical and surgical beds.
High Street Tower will be built steps away from the former location of High Street School, an important part of Bowling Green’s local history. The project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2026 which will mark the 100th Anniversary of Med Center Health, dating back to City Hospital’s origins on hospital hill.
Thank you so much to the hundreds in attendance, all of those who helped set up the event, and to our wonderful event speakers.
