IT Move Policy
All IT equipment (PC, phone, printer) should have a request for IT Move Request Form filled out and emailed to trackit@MCHealth.net. The form and policy can be found under Forms within the myMCH Portal. Request for move must be submitted two weeks prior to the move. Move request due to the following reasons and will be processed and scheduled immediately: Security and safety, ADA or health-related, and other emergencies. All other requests will be processed in the order of receipt.
In preparation for the move, the following steps outline below will help you to prepare for your move.
Moving Telephone
In general, you will be using your current telephone in your new location. Label your phone with your name and new room number. It will transfer your phone number to the new location right before the scheduled move.
Moving Computers and Printers
IT personnel will physically move computers and printers. Guidelines for moving equipment are as follows
- Make sure to label your equipment with your name and new room number
- Shut down and power off your computer before the move.
- Make sure all personal items are clear of the area of the equipment.
- Computer equipment, including monitors, printers, keyboards, will be moved along with all other accessories, and IT will be responsible for disconnecting and reconnecting equipment.
After the Move
- Check your phone and make sure that you hear dial-tone. Questions/issues, should be directed to Telecomm by contacting the IT Help Desk at ext. 1560.
Turn on your computer and make sure that you are connected to the network. Questions should be directed to the IT Help Desk at ext. 1560.
This policy and procedure applies to any move of IT equipment at Med Center Health.
