We can stop the spread

As healthcare professionals, we often act as ambassadors in our communities when it comes to staying healthy. Never has that been more true than now. The Omicron variant is a wildfire spreading through our area – in the past two weeks, the number of positive patients in our hospitals has almost doubled. But don’t panic. We have the tools to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe. Please, help your families, friends and neighbors understand how important it is to stop the spread of COVID by passing along these simple tips:

  • If not vaccinated or boosted, get the shot as soon as possible. While not a sure-fire prevention of infection, the vaccines will reduce the risk of serious illness, hospitalization and even death in the majority of people.
  • Avoid large gatherings, particularly if masks are not required.
  • Wear a mask in public. A well-fitting mask, especially a surgical or an N95 mask, is one of the best tools to slow the spread of COVID. Cloth masks are not preferred – but if worn, should have at least two layers and be frequently washed.
  • Wash hands often with soap and water or hand sanitizer.
  • Social distance by at least six feet.
  • Quarantine and get tested if you have been exposed.
  • Isolate if you have symptoms or do not have symptoms but have tested positive.

To defeat COVID will take everyone working together to stop the spread.
