Good Samaritan – Ari McClellan

Congratulations to Ari McClellan, a cook at The Medical Center at Bowling Green, on receiving the Good Samaritan Award. Ari was nominated for stepping way outside her comfort zone to ensure a patient was okay.

“I want to recognize and highly commend one of your employees, Ariane. My grandmother had a stress test performed on her heart. She stopped at the cafe for a drink, realized she wasn’t feeling well, and excused herself to the restroom (to call me in the meantime to pick her up). Ariane noticed she hadn’t returned after a short period and went to check on my grandmother. Ariane found her in the restroom, not doing well at all! I heard all of this on the phone. Ariane quickly jumped into action, requested help immediately, and stayed with my grandmother until help arrived. Ariane walked me through everything that was happening and, at my request, even held my grandmother’s items until I arrived at the ER! I truly believe that if it wasn’t for her, today would have had a way worse outcome. We are forever grateful for her quick thinking and willingness to take action when she noticed something was off! She is a great asset to the Med Center at Bowling Green!” – Family Submission

“I work over at WKHL, and I would like to take a moment to shout out Ari from the Med Center Café, Starbucks! We had a situation with a patient having a medical emergency. Ari saw the patient in distress and did not hesitate to step in. She stayed and comforted the patient until EMS arrived. All while on the phone with the patient’s grandson, letting him know what was going on.“ – Ebony at WKHL

“Ariane McClellan was working and noticed a patient was in the bathroom for a long time. She went to check on her. The patient was sick and about to fall to the floor. She helped the patient into a wheelchair while calling for help. She waited while the rapid team arrived and helped call the patient’s family to make them aware. We are grateful for her awareness and quick response to make sure the patient was taken care of quickly.” – Anna Drummond
