Dress in blue on March 6 in honor of National Colorectal Cancer Month

March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and Med Center Health encourages all employees to wear blue on Friday, March 6 during Dress in Blue Day.
Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer worldwide, accounting for approximately 10% of all cancer cases.
It is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Colorectal cancer is mostly preventable. It is important to understand the risk factors and identify those that you can change. Colorectal cancer starts with small growths (polyps) that in time can turn cancerous. Screening helps providers find and remove these growths. Screening also finds colorectal cancer early when treatment works best. The American Cancer Society recommends that people at average risk of colorectal cancer start regular screening at age 45.
