Dr. Avi Joins Med Center Health Gastroenterology
Med Center Health is proud to welcome Avinash Aravantagi, M.D., known as Dr. Avi, to the Franklin location of Med Center Health Gastroenterology. Board certified in Gastroenterology, Dr. Avi has 13+ years of experience in providing comprehensive care to patients in Southcentral Kentucky.
“I focus on making a meaningful difference in the lives of my patients, not just treating their symptoms,” says Dr. Avi. He focuses on the 3C’s: compassion, communication and comprehensive care. Each patient is unique, so his approach to care is patient-centered. He strives to maintain an open line of communication, encouraging his patients to share their concerns and questions. He empowers his patients by educating them about their condition and treatment options. And he addresses both the physical and emotional aspects of care.

The Franklin office of Med Center Health Gastroenterology is located in the Franklin Medical Plaza on The Medical Center at Franklin campus at 1030 Brookhaven Road.
Expansion of Gastroenterology Services
In January 2025, Med Center Health added Gastroenterology to its growing specialty services. Opening its first practice location in Bowling Green, Med Center Health welcomed Leah R. Griggs, M.D. who sees patients at the Med Center Health Gastroenterology office located in the Med Center Health Western Kentucky Heart & Lung building on the US 31W Bypass.
At the same time, Babu Rao, M.D. joined The Medical Center at Bowling Green’s Hospitalist Program as a Gastroenterology Hospitalist. While Dr. Rao provides hospitalist coverage, he also performs interventional procedures for outpatients, partnering with Dr. Leah Griggs to coordinate comprehensive and seamless care for patients.
In March, three Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) will join Med Center Health Gastroenterology and help extend reach into outlying counties. In addition to Bowling Green and Franklin, the gastroenterology practice will also have a presence in Glasgow, Russellville and Scottsville.
