The 10K will start on Avenue of Champions near L.T. Smith Stadium. Participants in the 10K should begin to assemble at the Start Line, at 8:00 am. Seeders will place you on the starting line based upon your expected 10K running pace. Seeders will have signs that indicate the number of minutes that, on the average, a runner expects to run each mile.
For example, if you expect to run the 10K in 40 minutes, then line up behind the seeder at the start with the sign that shows “6 Minutes.”
For the safety of all runners, please do not line up ahead of your realistic pace. Such action will impede the faster runners and also can cause a safety hazard. For liability reasons, we ask that there be no strollers, pets or use of headsets on the course.
The 5K Run will start on Avenue of Champions near L.T. Smith Stadium. Participants in the 5K should begin to assemble at the Start Line, at 7:15 am. Participants can run or walk! Awards for the 5K are presented to the top finishers of the event.
The Children’s Classic will return again this year! You will be able to register your child online through RunSignUp starting June 1. Remember, 90% of the race will be completed prior to the day of the race while your child is training for the big day. The children will keep a training log (calendar). Each participant will complete 5 1/2 miles of the race during their training the first few weeks of September.
There will be two races, one at 9:30 am for Grades 4 – 6 and then one at 9:45 am for Kindergarten through 3rd Grade. Participants will meet and check in at 9 a.m. at the WKU Football Stadium Concourse (Enter through Gates 5 and 6). Children will run the last 1K of the 10K Classic. It will be an exciting experience watching the children coming in among the others. (Parking will be available in either parking structure or Egypt Parking Lot on the corner of University Blvd. and Russellville Rd.)
The purpose of the Children’s Classic is to promote a healthier lifestyle, so there are no winners or losers. Every participant is a winner since they are working toward the goal of a healthier “you.” Each participant will receive a free t-shirt and beverage at the end of the race.
All entry forms must be filled out and signed by a parent or guardian. An incomplete or unsigned form will not be accepted. All registration forms are to be returned by August 31, 2020.
Race numbers will be delivered to your child’s teacher the week prior to the race. If you choose to mail in this form, please send to The Medical Center Health & Wellness located at 740 East 10th Avenue, Bowling Green, KY 42101 and your race number will be mailed to you.
For the 6th year, runners will have an opportunity to participate in a local race series, the bg3. The bg3 consists of three events: the Lions Club Run For Sight 5K on September 7, Med Center Health 10K Classic (10K only) on October 24 and the bg26.2 (half or full marathon) on November 1. If you run all three events, you will receive a bg3 medal.
Registration for the bg3 is now open. To register, click on the links below. Find each race on the calendar based on the event date. The link will connect you to each individual race registration.
The bg26.2 is a Boston Qualifier. The minimum age requirement for the marathon is 16 years old and the half marathon minimum age is 12. Accept the challenge, and sign up to run the bg3.
