Wear White November 15
November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Med Center Health encourages everyone to wear white on Monday, November 15 to promote lung cancer awareness as well as the benefits of lung cancer screening and early detection. The lung cancer ribbon color is white. One reason why this color was chosen is that the color represents a common characteristic of lung cancer, unnoticed symptoms. Unfortunately, many lung cancer patients (especially during the early stages of the disease) report not noticing or overlooking symptoms such as a consistent cough. Other symptoms such as cough (often with blood), chest pain, and unexplained weight loss often don’t appear until the cancer is advanced. Statistically, this results in high percentages of late stage diagnoses and low survival rates.
