Thank you 2023 Teen Ambassadors!
In 2022, Med Center Health Volunteer Services introduced a new initiative: The Summer Teen Ambassador Program. This program is designed for high school students who have an interest in working in a hospital setting. This eight-week program introduced students to numerous areas of the hospital, ranging from nursing to the emergency department to human resources and accounting.
The online application was sent to all local high schools, as well partner schools that house a Medical Arts Academy program.
This year, The Medical Center at Bowling Green welcomed 24 new Teen Ambassadors. The 2023 program began June 13 and ended July 27. Teen Ambassadors helped out in a number of departments, including radiology, women’s health, primary care, and more. These students represented five high schools in Southcentral Kentucky. In total, the students volunteered for more than 1,300 hours in less than eight weeks.
“Ambassadors, I hope you are proud of yourselves,” said Amy Hardin, Executive Director of Med Center Health Foundation. “Because we are all so, so proud of you. From the moment you were accepted into this program, you became members of the Med Center Health family. You will always be part of this family. And while we know you are off to do great big things as you continue your academic career, we can’t wait to welcome you back to MCH as a colleague.”
