Med Center Health’s very own Sandra Gross was recently named a Hometown Hero by WBKO. This honor comes after Sandra has gone above and beyond for her patients and her co-workers for many years at The Medical Center. Sandra is a clinical staff nurse in Ambulatory Surgery at The Medical Center, and her co-workers say her kind and caring nature make her a delight to work with.

“You would not meet a nicer person from head to toe,” said Anna Sparks, a nurse at The Medical Center. “She goes the extra mile no matter how hard it is to get there.”

Sandra’s extra mile mentality is shown by example. She has planned countless baby showers and retirement parties, she always makes sure to carry snacks in her purse in case a nurse forgets to bring a lunch, and she even makes handmade blankets with prayers for mothers who have lost a child. She says she makes these blankets so those mothers know they have someone who loves them and cares for them.

“It’s important to help others,” Sandra said. “You never know when you’re going to need help, so you have to step forward and see what the need is and have to go after it.”

A few years ago, Sandra started a Toys for Tots Toy drive for her department to bring Christmas gifts to children in the Bowling Green area who are less fortunate. Last year, Sandra and her department collected more than 93 toys, 18 stocking stuffers, and 7 books for children in the area.

Sandra is a great representative of The Medical Center, and she is extremely deserving of this honor. Thank you to Sandra for your years of selflessness and kindness, and thank you to Anna Sparks and the rest of the nurses in ambulatory surgery who nominated Sandra.
