New Med Center Health practice expands access to surgical oncology

Med Center Health is pleased to announce the opening of Med Center Health Surgical Oncology and to welcome Prejesh Philips, M.D. and Kayla Smith, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC.  Med Center Health Surgical Oncology expands access to specialized surgical care for the treatment of cancer.

Dr. Philips is a board-certified surgical oncologist affiliated with UofL Physicians who sees patients in Bowling Green for consultation, pre-op and post-op appointments, with surgeries performed in Louisville. He has expertise in esophageal, gastric, liver, pancreatic and bile duct cancers, in addition to sarcoma, general surgical oncology and robotic surgery. He earned his medical degree at Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi University in India. He completed his residency in General Surgery at University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio and his fellowships in Surgical Oncology and Hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) at the University of Louisville School of Medicine.

Kayla completed her bachelor’s degree in Nursing and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Western Kentucky University. Kayla is employed by Med Center Health.
