New area code and prefixes expand local calling

As Med Center Health continues to grow, it has been necessary to add more phone numbers. For many years our numbers were all in the 270 area code and began with 745 or 796. In the late 1990’s the 780 prefix was added and in 2019, we added 846. This year we have added 703, 715 and 721. Our latest addition of 202 brings in the new area code 364 for Bowling Green first introduced by the FCC in 2014. All of these prefixes, including numbers with the 364 area code, are local calls for the Bowling Green area.

As a reminder, most Med Center Health departments have abbreviated internal numbers – you may use the last four digits of an MCH number to make a call to an MCH site from within MCH. For instance, if you are calling from within an MCH facility, you could simply use “1000” to reach The Medical Center at Bowling Green switchboard rather than the full 270-745-1000 number. Going forward, some internal numbers may have five or six digits.
