Med Center Health employee inducted into KHSAA Hall of Fame
Med Center Health’s very own, Ida Bowen, was announced to be a member of this year’s KHSAA Hall of Fame class. Bowen now works at The Medical Center at Bowling Green as a pharmacy technician. Bowen had this to say about the honor:
“Being inducted into the KHSAA Hall of Fame is a great honor, and I am so appreciative and thankful to receive the award. It’s the final piece of my athletic puzzle. I won Miss Kentucky Basketball in 1991, played four years at Western Kentucky University, played in the 1992 NCAA championship game, was inducted into the WKU Hall of Fame and got to travel all around the world playing the game of basketball. This award brings it all to a close.”
Bowen totaled more than 2,700 points and 300 rebounds over her career at Sheldon Clark High School. Bowen was named Sheldon Clark’s only Kentucky Miss Basketball award winner following a stellar 1990-91 senior season. She went on to play four years at the collegiate level at Western Kentucky University, where she helped guide the Lady Toppers to an NCAA Division I national runner-up finish as a freshman.
The Kentucky High School Athletic Association will induct its Class of 2024 into the Dawahares/KHSAA Hall of Fame presented by Roberts Insurance on Sunday, April 28, at the Central Bank Center Ballroom in Lexington. With the introduction of this year’s 12-member class, the Dawahares/KHSAA Hall of Fame grows to 517 all-time members since its inception in 1988.
Tickets to the 2024 Dawahares/KHSAA Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be available for purchase at a later date on khsaatickets.org.
