Laketa Goins receives Med Center Health’s first BEE Award
Laketa Goins, CNA, with The Medical Center at Bowling Green 4B, is Med Center Health’s first BEE Award recipient! She was nominated by Jenifer Hill, APRN, who wrote:
“Laketa was the CNA for a patient I was seeing on 4B. The patient had experienced a difficult course, and had been made comfort measures. The patient’s wife was in a bad financial situation and without transportation to visit her dying spouse. Laketa not only ensured that she had food, but personally provided transportation for this woman. Because of Laketa, this patient was able to have his wife at his bedside!
“This is not a unique occurrence for this employee. Over the several years I’ve worked alongside Laketa, I have witnessed her selfless giving on numerous occasions. She has provided food, clothing and genuine compassion with no desire for any reciprocation. In short, Laketa Goins exemplifies what the BEE award stands for in every way.”
The BEE Award (Be Extraordinary Everyday) recognizes the impact that Clinical Support Staff have on a patient’s overall experience. Clinical Support Staff includes clinical nursing assistants (CNAs), patient care assistants (PCAs), unit clerks and other clinical support members. Med Center Health presents the DAISY Award to honor and celebrate the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. But we all know that you can’t have daisies without outstanding bees. These support staff members consistently demonstrate excellence through their clinical experience and extraordinary compassionate care. Recipients of the BEE Award are recognized as outstanding role models in our organization and community.
