Endoscopy team celebrates 100th successful robotic surgery

The Med Center Health Endoscopy team celebrated their 100^th successful robotic surgery on Friday, January 19. Med Center Health has been using the Ion robotic-assisted bronchoscopy tool for lung biopsies since 2023 and has seen incredible results with the new technology. This robotic technology allows pulmonologists to find potentially cancerous lung nodules at an incredibly small size (sometimes less than one centimeter).

Kentucky has the highest rate of lung cancer in the country, and, thanks to this investment in state-of-the-art technology, pulmonologists using this tool at the Medical Center at Bowling Green can now diagnose and treat potential lung cancer at earlier stages and keep our community safer and healthier.
