Dress in Blue Day is March 5
Show your support for colorectal cancer patients by wearing blue on Friday, March 5! March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month—you can help spread awareness of colorectal cancer by talking to friends and family about the importance of being screened. Be sure to share your Dress in Blue photos by sending to Bailey Pitts, Marketing Specialist! Remember to wear masks and socially distance in any photos featuring multiple people.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend people 50 and older be screened, and some groups, such as the American Cancer Society, recommend starting at 45 for people with average risk. You may need to be screened even earlier if:
- You or a close relative had colorectal polyps or colorectal cancer;
- You have Crohn’s disease or other inflammatory bowel disease; or
- You have a genetic syndrome such as Lynch syndrome or familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP).
There are many types of screening tests — for most people, being screened for colorectal cancer is quick and easy. If you are 45 or older, or at risk, talk to your doctor about what might be right for you.
