Doris Thomas begins service as WKU Regent

Former Vice President of Development and Community Outreach Doris Thomas recently attended her first meeting as a regent of Western Kentucky University. She was appointed by Governor Andy Beshear and will serve through June 30, 2027. Doris retired from Med Center Health earlier this year after more than 35 years of service.

The Board of Regents is the governing body of Western Kentucky University and is made up of 11 members. Eight of the members are appointed by the Governor from among nominees submitted by a nominating commission. These members serve up to two six-year terms.

Faculty and staff representatives are elected by their peers to three-year terms. The student representative is the President of the Student Government Association and is elected to a one-year term.
