Costumes, pumpkins…must be Halloween!

Costumes for Halloween

Med Center Health employees are permitted to wear Halloween Costumes on Friday, October 29-Sunday, October 31.  Costumes that are scary, gruesome, racial or sexually suggestive are not allowed. Full costumes and face painting are not permitted as patients should be able to easily recognize their care givers. For safety purposes, face masks (and face shields when applicable) must be worn and the costume should not impede work in any way.  

While many people enjoy wearing costumes, not all Halloween costumes are suitable to a healthcare facility or work setting. We must all be aware of the impact to our patients, families, visitors and to co-workers. Please assure that the costume will meet your department’s dress code and is appropriate to the department’s business needs. If you have specific questions, please talk to your Department Director/Manager or you may contact your HR Business Partner. 

Virtual Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Let’s have some fun by decorating and entering your department pumpkin in the Med Center Health Virtual Pumpkin Patch Contest!

How to participate:

  1. Pick up your pumpkins. In Bowling Green, Franklin and Scottsville, go to the Cafeteria. In Caverna, contact Tiffany Woodard in Purchasing. In Albany, pumpkins are in the Dining Room.
  2. Remember that the pumpkins must be decorated. No cutting or carving.
  3. Take a picture of your decorated pumpkin. Bowling Green, Franklin and Scottsville, email it to Teresa Cottrell in Human Resources at: cotttl@mchealth.net by October 20. Be sure to include your department name. In Caverna, Tiffany Woodard will take photos of the pumpkins. In Albany, Pat Beard in Human Resources will take photos.
  4. On October 27 pictures of all decorated pumpkins will be displayed in our “Virtual Pumpkin Patch”.
  5. You can cast your vote for your favorite pumpkin from October 27 through November 5.
  6. Watch your email for more information about voting.
  7. There will be winners in two categories:  Employee Choice Award and Judges’ Choice Award.
  8. Winning entries will be announced by November 12.
